GM Wrap Up – The Story So Far…

I’ve decided to do a bi-weekly write up of my Feng Shui sessions. It’s a nice way for me to document it and also a nice way for the people that I start blabbering to about it to keep up so that they can blow me off by going “Oh yeah, I read about it on your blog.” ;-)

Other than an introductory adventure and a couple of one-offs the story so far begins 5 years ago in a dojo where a young student and his master are killed by a man with a spider tattoo who never took off his sunglasses. Thus the story of Tony Wong begins.

5 years later Tony receives an invitation from the old master’s brother, he is re-opening the dojo and Tony is invited to a martial arts demonstration and tournament! The tournament is between one of the local dojos and a crew from one of the Zodiac Dojos in town, or as Tony refers to it explaining it to his friends, a McDojo. The local dojo wins the tournament hands down, easily defeating the Zodiac Dojo’s students.

This is followed by a martial arts demonstration by a man known only as Arachnid. He wears the gi of the zodiac school but within the zodiac wheel logo is a spider, he also wears a pair of dark glasses and never takes them off. His martial arts skilled is unparalleled and very impressive. The audience is wowed by his agility and strength. At the end of the demonstration it has come time for his grand finale: pain resistance. Upon removing his shirt a spider tattoo matching the one on the man who killed Tony’s master and brother is seen.

After the demonstration Tony confronts Arachnid and while a group of his henchmen keep Tony’s friend busy Tony and Arachnid duel in the dojo. After his friends dispense of the first round of henchmen, Arachnid calls in another group led by a young tough named Mantis. However, clearly outmatched Tony is easily defeated by Arachnid, who while walking out picks Tony up by the neck of his shirt and tells him that he is weak, weak just like before he began training his brother and throws Tony to the ground.

Tony wakes up at the hospital several hours later, thrashed and sore but alive. Upon hearing that his brother might be alive he immediately begins to seek confirmation of his brother’s death. Injuries be damned, he is determined to find out if his brother is truly alive and if he is, why is he working for the man who killed their old master?

Checking the autopsy reports comes up empty. By all accounts it looks like a standard autopsy, showing injuries sustained in a beating. However, it looks almost too standard and the doctor who did it has long left the country. Tony’s next plan of action: Dig up his brother’s coffin and see if there’s a body.

Upon arriving at the cemetery late in the night there is certainly a lot of suspicious activity going on. They happen upon a group of young men digging up the grave of Danny Wong, one of which is Mantis from the dojo. After the fight leaving Mantis incapacitated along with one of his men they continue to remove the coffin from the ground and upon opening it realize that the coffin is indeed empty.

Upon interrogation from Mantis they learn that Arachnid is holed up in a warehouse around the docks. Upon arriving at the warehouse after trailing Mantis to Arachnid’s hide out Tony and his friends positioned themselves outside of the warehouse. Tony perched upon a second story fire escape peaks into the window. After a moment or two his brother looks up at window and greets his brother.

After telling his brother to come in, Tony climbs in through the window. After a short discussion that ultimately leads no where, and after Bishop miserably fails to sneak into the building, is dragged out by some of the cronies and begins to attempt to inspect the shipping manifests for this “legitimate business” two ninjas drop from the ceiling as Danny takes on Tony in a duel of brother against brother.

The fight eventually ends with Tony getting the upper hand while the others have been mopping up the floor with the rest of Arachnid’s henchmen as he made his escape assured by his apprentice that he could handle his brother. After a change of heart, Danny tells Tony that the only way to stop Arachnid is to weaken him by taking out a group of assassins called The Legs of Arachnid. They are a group of 8 assassins, always 8, no more and no less. To go under the apprenticeship of Arachnid you must undergo a ceremony where in by gaining his teaching you give him some of your power. If Tony is to attempt to avenge their master he must first take out the remaining assassins. Danny only knows of one however, as they are kept secret in order to keep others conspiring against him. Two young men, twins by birth, known only as The Turtle Brothers who are members of The Shell of the Tortoise who are tasked with guarding important sites and Netherworld portals in the Netherworld. They must start there and see where it leads them.

And that my friends is the basic story so far. I’m sure most of it makes little to no sense unless you’ve either read or are familiar with the Feng Shui RPG system or have heard me talk about it before, I’m sure at great length. :-)

  1. Seriously, everytime you’ve mentioned Feng Shui on FB I’ve imagined you redecorating your and your friends’ houses. This makes so much more sense.
