I’ve really let myself go since “the break up” (insert dramatic music) and this has really been proven by the fact that when I went to the doctor yesterday it appears that since I last saw him I’ve gained about 30 pounds(!!!!). I’m at the heaviest I’ve ever been in my life and realized yesterday I’m pushing towards 300. That scared the crap out of me, I’ve always been a heavy guy but that number has always alluded me.
You could also look at the state of my apartment as of late (until a couple weeks ago when I finally cleaned it) that I had let myself go there as well.
I’m thinking of joining the YMCA here in town. Any horror stories, good things, or “Meh, they’re okay” you’ve heard about them please share. I’ve looked at it today and plan to look into it further once I get over this sinus infection. Their martial arts classes in particular look interesting as it’s something I’ve always wanted to do but mom wouldn’t let me as a kid.
They have an indoor pool that’s not just for lap swimming, and some other classes that should help me ease into things rather than jumping in full throttle with no idea of what the hell I’m doing.
It’s also month-to-month, no contracts or any of that type of thing so I won’t end up owning them my soul for the next two years or something like that.
Just looking for thoughts on them or any other local health clubs, looked at Fitness 19 but they don’t seem to have what I want, and I’m not sure about Lexington Athletic Club either, I need to look into them more.
Pretty much every other place in Lexington requires a one-year contract, and has a bunch of hidden costs that they let you know about once you sign. The YMCA at Beaumont is very nice, lovely facilities, and nice classes for members. The pool is always a little chilly, tho.
