GM Wrap Up – The End

In a completely meta-game moment here I will say that I know I have been slacking off severely. Let’s just say that our intrepid adventurers have killed a lot of people to get to where they were tonight. They met a night club owner, brothel mistress, rock stars and a former prize fighter to get to where they are. Along the way they’ve had many laughs and wackiness has certainly ensued.

So the players have come a long way from Azrael’s night club. They’ve fought many people and come a long way to their final show down with Arachnid. Little did they realize that all along that one in their midst was unknowing giving advice to the enemy…

The adventurers found themselves last time with their true potential unlocked by a mysterious old man who probably has a name somewhere but I’m too lazy to look up. We began our session later than I wanted to tonight so he ended up telling them that Arachnid was waiting for them at the place where Tony’s vengance was born. Fast forward to the dojo (this is literally how it worked in game as well) where they are now standing in front of Arachnid, his evil minions and none other than the love of Detroit Washington’s life, Janet Li!

*cue the dramatic organ music*

“Oh Detroit… So sweet… But so stupid. So very stupid.” Janet opened her monologue as she explained that she had been using Detroit all this time for information and lots of crazy, kinky sex. Obviously crushed but with both Detroit and Tony with battles to fight it wasn’t long before the team was dragged into the fight as the hot dog vendor and Santa Claus were attacked. How these two characters ended up in the dojo is because of the theatrical nature of the reveal and the need for refreshments by the other players. The hot dog vendor was fine but Santa was the last straw and the team sprung into action!

The fight began as the team split up to fight the various enemies around them. The nearly endless pile of mooks kept Daphne and Bishop busy while Detroit dealt with Janet and Tony began to duel with Arachnid. Also Santa helped a little, Rudolph eventually showed up and then Santa left leaving some coal for the bad guys.

Eventually the fight came to an end as Tony enacted his vengeance and Arachnid’s body exploded into thousands of tiny spiders. Meanwhile as Bishop is about to put the finishing moves onto Janet Li, who mind you has been rather riled up by Detroit Washington and the handcuffs that are currently binding her to him isn’t hurting, Detroit steps in the way of his blade, pulls out the key and unlocks himself from the handcuffs. And with his final words he tells her to run because he doesn’t want her to be killed.

His final act of heroism saved her life… But at what cost?

Future Detroit Washington then showed up, coming down from the ceiling wearing a jet pack and an eye patch, snapped a picture of the group and said “Ha ha! I just wanted to see the look on your faces!” then took off into the sky again. Truly an absurd ending fitting of this truly absurd campaign…

Eventually Bishop was able to find the secret to restoring life to his friend Detroit Washington. It was during these travels that he learned much in the ways of combat and eventually went onto lead the Dallas Rockets into getting the Buro out of Texas during the revolt, thus cementing his place in history forever.

Detroit Washington was posthumously awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his photography. People would years later stop him on the street telling him that they loved his work… And they thought he was dead.

Tony and Daphne paired up to find out more about the Arachnos Corporation. Eventually leading them to find out that it was a plot by the Buro to get people to take the medication and become more susceptible to mind control, thus making the present time period easier to conquer. Thankfully they were able to stop their plot and save the people of the present time period once again.

On this note I would like to thank the players for putting up with my stumbles and falls as a first time GM. It was truly fun and I appreciate all the work you put into making your characters come to life at the table. It was fun running for you guys and I truly appreciate your creativity and sense of fun you brought every (other) week.

Onward to the next adventure!
