My dad called me earlier this week to let me know that a package had arrived for me at their house and it was there if it was urgent. I knew what it was, a Jay bobblehead I bought off of The Jay and Silent Bob Secret Stash website. The other surprised me as he also told me I had an envelope from Ben Folds. I had been a part of the fan club years ago but hadn’t renewed my membership in years. As I found out this afternoon, that was roughly 3 or 4 years ago in 2006.
I went over to my parent’s house to get a dress shirt for tonight’s March Madness Bandquet as I had left it there doing laundry. I decided to go ahead and get my box and envelope while I was there, figuring that it was a letter saying something like “We want you back for a discounted rate!” or something like that. What I found when I got there was a letter profusely apologizing for their lack of the promised EP album that they promised I would receive upon joining and instead they had sent several Ben Folds themed postcards. The letter also told me to make sure I caught Ben on his 2006/2007 tour.
The envelope was post marked December 11th, 2006.
